Recipe: Beer Battered Steak on a Stick

Time execution: 10 min

  • 6 cups peanut oil

  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour

  • Salt

  • Fresh black pepper

  • Cayenne pepper, to taste

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 cup Brooklyn Belgian Ale

  • 2 cup buttermilk

  • 2 NY Strip or Filet Mignon

  • Long wooden skewers

  1. In a large heavy-bottomed stockpot, heat the peanut oil to 450 degrees. In a large bowl mix the sifted flour with salt and pepper. In another large bowl mix the eggs, beer, and buttermilk. Slice the steak into thin 2-inch pieces and then place them in the flour first, then the beer mixture and then back into the flour. Shake off any excess flour and then drop into the hot oil for 3 minutes. Remove from oil and allow to cool for about 40 seconds before attempting to eat. Serve with jalapeno remoulade.
