If you cant find fresh turmeric root I dont see why you cant use ginger root.
Farmer's Market Turmeric Tea Ingredients
4 cups water
1 (2 inch) piece fresh turmeric root, peeled and grated
? teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons honey, or to taste
teaspoon lemon juice, or to taste
How to Make Farmer's Market Turmeric Tea
Bring water to a boil in a pot. Stir in turmeric and pepper. Reduce heat to simmer. Simmer until flavors meld, about 10 minutes.
Strain into a heat-resistant glass container. Serve hot or cold, flavoring with honey and lemon juice.

Opps First review got cut short. I was about to write that I add a bit of minced grated ginger to the tea. And the pepper is a must to give the best of turmerics healing properties to the drink. Great hot or cold.
This was interesting. I could taste the black pepper at the back of my throat, nice little kick.
